Label TextRunning White Deer, County Wicklow, Ireland is Caponigro’s best-known
photograph. This image was a happy accident of sorts that materialized after the
artist sent a dog into the forest of County Wicklow to chase a herd of white deer
out of the woods and in front of the camera. Caponigro got a single shot of the
herd, each deer a blur of creamy white motion. The fuzzy effect is precisely what
invests the image with a sense of mystery—a quality of many of Caponigro’s
photos of nature
