A man who identified himself as Josef Mlot-Mroz, of Salem, Massachusetts, chained himself to the fence at the White House January 31 during a double demonstration outside the Executive Mansion. The incident happened as a group of clergymen were picketing to protest "the immorality of the warfare in Vietnam," and a counter demonstration was being held by a group supporting the United States policies. Mlot-Mroz taunted the anti-war demonstrates from his position in chains. Police cut him loose and drove him away in a patrol wagon, January 31, 1967
