The American artist John Storrs belonged to the generation that established cubism, and carried the cubist discoveries into both decorative and monumental styles. ...
In style, much of the work of Storrs belongs to a period: the 'twenties era of "Modernism" in architecture and the decorative arts. It was a style that brought together diverse influences from the early part of the century, including both cubist and futurist approaches; affected to some extent by suprematism and orphism; and connected in spirit with the Bauhaus direction as well as with De Stijl.
