Label Text Leet is known for unique compositions that combine watercolor and paper collage techniques. He’s particularly drawn to the Midwestern landscape and the dynamic relationship between land and weather. “Having lived in Iowa and the Midwest all of my life,” Leet admits, “I’ve done a lot of looking at the sky and ground around us. The urban and rural landscapes and especially the variety of experiences encompassed in the changing of the seasons have become ingrained in my understanding and approach to life and my art.” Here, the unobstructed large sky and central rain cloud are composed from pieces of torn, colored paper that Leet affixed to the work’s support. The surface in this area of the work is rough and suggests the mood of unsettled weather. October, 2020
