Label TextWithin a long and varied career, Stouman’s great subject as a photographer was Times Square in New York City, which he captured for over 45 years, eventually publishing a book on the subject. Stoumen was also an influential professor of cinematography at UCLA for many years. He won two Academy Awards for documentary films in 1957 and 1963 and developed a camera movement technique for filming still photographs that is still widely used in documentaries today.
