Sarah Young-Bear, who works in a more contemporary style than her family members, created a free-form beaded object that can be worn as a medallion or added to an article of clothing. It is a self-portrait of the artist, noting her place as part of the Fish Clan, a connection through her father's side of the family and one of the eight clans of the Meskwaki Tribe. Sarah lives in Council Bluffs and works nationwide as an advocate for the Indigenous Deaf community. Her work is displayed at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
