Label Text Shimomura is known for brightly colored works, influenced by Pop Art, but often dealing with historic racism and trauma faced by Japanese Americans. This suite is an homage to the rich tradition of Japanese wood-block printmaking, particularly the erotic prints, or shunga, widely created in 18th and 19th century Japan.
