Label Text In his “Sequential Views” series, Robbert Flick constructs grids composed of images he photographed from his car in and around Los Angeles. Here, he depicts a desolate stretch of road along Highway 14 in the western Mojave Desert. To create each grid, the artist stopped at predetermined intervals to incrementally document the surrounding landscape. The grid format suggests a system, yet the images themselves derive from the photographer’s intuitive sense of composition. Flick seeks to mimic the experience of driving, in which one experiences shifting vistas in quick succession.
