Label Text With support from ASK Studio, Rachel Sussman’s gold work Sidewalk Kintsukuroi has been installed in the Art Center’s lobby, and has been accepted into the permanent collections. Inspired by the Japanese craft tradition of kintsukuroi, in which broken pottery is repaired with gold, Sussman filled a pre-existing crack in the lobby floor with resin and gold dust. Sussman’s conceptual projects often explore notions of time, and this work commemorates the long life of the Saarinen building, as well as offers an aesthetic addition to the architecture for years to come. This is the first work by Sussman to enter the collections.
