Label Text Carolyn Armington spent most of her career in France, where she etched over 500 views of historic European architecture. This etching depicts the entryway of the palace in Paris of the abbots of the monastery of Cluny. It reflects North American artists’ appreciation of Gothic art during the 1920s. A touring exhibition of Armington’s work came to Des Moines in 1926, at which time many of her prints were acquired. Source: News, Jul Aug Sep 2015.
