Label Text Fischli & Weiss, Swiss artists, began working collaboratively in 1979; Weiss died in 2012. They worked in a variety of media, including sculpture, photography, video, and film, often with great humor. Their subject matter ranged from the banality of everyday life to important events in world history. Forest, a sculpture of unfired clay, comes from their major series of works entitled "Suddenly this overview." Begun in 1981 and enlarged again in 2006 on onward, this work depicts a forest floor with mushrooms, leaves, and an earthworm making its way through the debris. Seemingly insignificant mushrooms and elements from the forest are repeated subjects in their art, referencing their love of the mountains of their native Switzerland. Source: News, Jan Feb Mar 2014
