Two silver-plated brass rings hung gently nudging one another comprise this prototype/production proof for a subsequent edition. Like the artist's strings of lights, stacks of paper, or piles of candy, this piece is conceptually based, subtle, enigmatic, and poetic. Gonzalez-Torres' art was personal and private, as well as critical of social injustice and intolerance. The circle, a recurring motif in his body of work, speaks to the idea of infinity.
