Label Text Palestian-born, London- and Berlin-based Mona Hatoum began her career as a performance artist. Her early work examined issues surrounding the body and personal identity. She later moved to sculpture and large-scale installations using unconventional subject matter, such as chairs and kitchen utensils, which extended her investigations of the body but broadened them to include notions of home and exile. Hatoum's use of hair in this work continues these investigations into psychological and interior worlds and into socio-political concerns. Source: News, October November December 2010.
