World #1 is part of a portfolio entitled World by Dutch artist Rudd Van Empel. The portfolio is comprised of seven cibachrome works in an edition of 15. This set of photographs exemplifies van Empel's most significant body of work. Here, he creates hyperreal photographs of young children in lush forests through digitally manipulated photo collages.Van Empel presents views of innocence and fantasy, but suggests that perfection is only possible through artificiality.
