Genzken has worked in many media throughout her career. Durchgangis part of a series of cast concrete sculptures that draws inspiration from the Modernist architecture of Berlin in the 1960s and 1970s. The Museum of Modern Art, New York, holds a similar work from the series. The Art Center has extraordinary holdings of German contemporary art, and this work adds to these holdings in an important fashion.
