Women Power: In some factories in North Vietnam, where power sources are not readily available, human power is put to work. Using a wheelless bicycle frame installed beside machine, a lathe is attached and a worker pedals to maintain power operations. In this bicycle factory in Hanoi, this girl operates such a device during a power failure within the plan servicing the factory, November 14, 1967

Sgt. Ralph Kilpatrick - Soldier Behind North Korea Lines for 77 Days: Taejon, South Korea: An army mess sergeant was the hero of the 24th Division when he returned from 77 death-despairing days behind communist lines. Ralph Kilpatrick, of Phoebus, Virginia, came out of the once-held enemy hills to his buddies in the 19th Infantry Regiment in good health with a harrowing story of grimly hanging to life in enemy-saturated territory. Kilpatrick is pictured as he received a medical checkup from Lieutenant Alfred J. Grose, of Rochester, New York, October 4, 1950

for Walking With The Wounded: There is no quarter given on either side at the Vietnam outpost of Khe Sanh. The wounded, moved by litter from their defensive positions to the hospital bunker or into evacuating helicopters, are the targets for North Vietnamese gunners, making any open exposure a time of danger. Here, a downed soldier, with shell fragments in his back and legs, is carried by his comrades, one wounded about the head, across an open area during a lull in the fighting, March 8, 1968

Handy Helpers: Members of the 1st Air Cavalry Division pass a child from hand to hand across a rain swollen stream near Xuan Que as they helped South Vietnamese refugees move to a resettlement camp from their village last week. The villagers volunteered to leave the area which had become a battleground between U.S. and North Vietnamese soldiers. The village was destroyed after the villagers left to deny sanctuary to the enemy, January 7, 1968
