Label Text Larry Welo, a highly regarded printmaker based in Blue Mound, Wisconsin, is a master of traditional etching processes. Welo creates color etchings that poetically evoke the land, light, and sense of place of the Midwest. I Remember (2005) is a view of Hibbing, Minnesota, the town where the artist grew up. This magical image, which Welo drew and etched over many years, seems saturated with the sense of time and presence of memory. A tiny white house, the artist's boyhood home, seems to glow where the gray paper has been cut away and the underlying support shines through. Source: New, July August September, 2006.
