Label TextCarroll Dunham creates graphic cartoonlike images with sexual overtones that merge abstraction and figuration. This painting from 2001 represents a departure from the vivid color of his early work. Dunham's art has always existed outside of the prevailing trends and fads and does not fall within a particular movement. It combines elements of Surrealism and Expressionism, with a bit of Pop. Often there is an implied narrative in a work, although what is actually taking place is left to the viewer. Source: News, July August September, 2008.
