Label TextThis may well have been conceived as a study for a large sculpture, since its very simplicity and emphasis on proportions suggest an architectural scale. Most of Nagare's work is in stone, and the quality of carved, articulated mass is apparent in this bronze as well. His forms seem to find a perfect fusion of geometry and the sense of nature; a union that undoubtedly reflects his years of serious studies in Shinto and Buddhism. Source: Bulletin, January, 1968
