As of 2001, Jim Shaw had created over 100 works in his ongoing series, My Mirage. This body of work chronicles the life of a fictitious character named Billy. Through these works we see Billy's youthful traumas and joys, complete with tales of addiction, sex, betrayal, and finally redemption. His sources of imagery are often 1960s popular culture.
