Label Text While the geometric forms of Dorothea Rockburne's work have often linked her with Minimalism, the softness and sensuality of the pencil and paper she uses removes her work of hard-edged rigidity. Her work balances between two and three dimensions; while initially meant to appear flat and non-illusionist, the folding of the paper reveals shape and hides space. Rockburne's Angel series had two groups of work--those that were brightly colored and those that were mostly white. In White Angel #3, shadow creates very subtle effects of color on white paper.
