In 1989 Bartlett began a four-part series of paintings, drawings and prints on the theme of the four seasons--fire, earth, water and wind. Glass of Water I is part of this series. Other natural forms, such as bugs, mice and grass are found in the image, as well as non-natural items like playing cards and plaid fabric. The combination creates a rich, highly energetic image.
