Label Text The Franz Marc woodcut in three colors, ..., is the first example in the Art Center collection of the work of this mystical German artist. In addition to being one of Marc's most important graphic works, it is also a highly characteristic fusion of animal forms and abstrat shapes, develpping a highly rhythmic and dynamic composition. Works by Franz Marc are expecially rare due to his tragic early death in World War I, after being one of the key artists of the Munich "Der Blaue Reiter" group. Source: Bulletin, March 1968
