Jull Giegerich's debt to the analytical methods of Cubism is evident in her use of simplified geometric shapes and collage. Likewise, the interlocking planes and architectonic structure pay homage to the purely abstract work of Russian Constructivists and Bauhaus designers.
Giegerich was born in 1951 in Chappaqua, New York. She received her B.F.A. from the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia in 1975 and her M.F.A. in 1977. In 1984 she received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
