Label Text Terry Allen was born in Wichita, Kansas, in 1943 and raised in Lubbock, Texas. The lithographs, titled Positions on the Desert, relate to a body of work about Juarez, Mexico, which Allen began in 1975. The work incorporates a story by Allen with four characters--Sailor, Alice, Chic, and Jabo--and it involves their experiences and interactions in Juarez.He developed these lithographs over the course of his career. Positions in the Desert join a series of six lithographs and is presented as one work. It incor porates photographic images and excerpts from the Juarez lyrics.
