A four-panel image, Scattered Petals moves left to right, depicting the progress of a day over the landscape. The yellow-orange sun in the left panel is echoed by the crescent moon at the right. Flowers and other abstracted natural forms occupy the two middle panels.
Born in Brooklyn, Mew York in 1946, Provisor received B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1969 and 1971 respectively. She was the recepient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1980 and 1985. In May 1989, Provisor went to the People's Republic of China to work with Chinese printmakers in Shanghai and Suzhou. Upon returning to the United States, she published three Chinese woodcits with with Crown Point Press, one of which is Scattered Petals. Provisor was also influenced by Chinese landscape.
