Label Text Catherine Howe belongs to a group of artists who returned to the figure. Often, her paintings seamlessly combine diverse painting styles. For example the figures may be rendered in a style that harks back to the work of the American Ashcan School, while the backgrounds reference the manner of the Abstract Expressionists.
